appliedx is a functional Learning and Development team that supports the Engineering organization at Applied Materials. We create learning experiences that increase and sharpen engineers' knowledge and skills. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Instructional Designer to join our functional/technical training team. In this role you will be responsible for developing and designing engaging and effective training materials through collaboration with subject matter experts, trainers, and other team members.   

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Design and develop training materials: Collaborate with subject matter experts to understand training requirements and create engaging and interactive instructional materials. This role will mainly create e-learning modules, but there will be opportunities for instructor-led presentations, job aids, and other supporting documents.  

  • Conduct needs analysis: Assess training needs and conduct thorough research to gather information on the target audience, learning objectives, and available resources.  

  • Content creation: Create and edit written content, graphics, multimedia elements, and other resources to enhance the effectiveness of training materials.  

  • Instructional design methodologies: Apply instructional design principles and best practices to ensure the development of high-quality courses.  

  • Evaluate and revise: Conduct regular evaluations of training materials, gather feedback from learners and trainers, and make necessary revisions to improve the effectiveness and relevance of the training programs.  

  • Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with subject matter experts, trainers, and other team members to ensure the accuracy and quality of training materials.  

  • Stay updated: Keep up to date with the latest trends and advancements in instructional design, adult learning theory, and technology-based learning solutions to continuously improve training programs.  
     

QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field, OR relevant certifications in instructional design or e-learning development. 

  • Experience: 2-4 years of experience doing instructional design, preferably in a functional/technical training environment. 

  • Technical skills: Proficiency in e-learning authoring software such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar tools. Experience with Open edX is a plus.  

  • Strong communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders. 

  • Attention to detail: Strong attention to detail and ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. 

  • Analytical thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify training needs and develop effective learning solutions. 

  • Team player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and contribute to the overall success of the training team. 

  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing requirements and priorities.
