Referred to as Java Competence Center, we co-create and co-accelerate with key players in any field. Without being limited to any business unit, we demonstrated our deep Java development expertise by delivering SaaS platforms in various domains: Web Applications in e-Commerce, Automotive, Telco, Insurance, Banking and Public sector, even Big Data and scientific applications. Our current emphasis lies on PaaS solutions, with a specific focus on Docker, Kubernetes, Open Shift, AWS, and Cloud Foundry. With the increasing demand for Microservices projects, we have created a reference architecture for our major clients, researched various frameworks, and identified the ones that are highly sought after by the large enterprises we collaborate with.
Our client is undertaking a strategic programme “Sequoia” to transform the Workplace Pensions core administration platform (FPF), improve resiliency and deliver better customer outcomes.
A number of cross functional scrum teams are to be created to support this initiative, with microservice engineering capability to be embedded within these teams.
The current level of Microservice capability is 8-10 Spring Boot Microservices complete with full CI/CD pipelines in place.
What you'll be doing
• Writing Code: coaches teams in the techniques used to write clean code. Pairs with engineers when writing production code. Uses data and measures to uplift code quality
• Testing: Advocates, coaches and practices a test first mindset and approach
• Observability: Drives a consistent observability capability uplift through cross-team collaboration and knowledge sharing. Guides engineering teams to put in place effective observability within their domain
• Software Architecture: Coaches teams in the design of loosely coupled architectures using established design patterns. Enables teams to build, test and deploy applications independently, frequently and reliably. Guides teams to build systems that are easy to automate. Designs with consideration for failure modes and non-functional requirements. Makes design decisions that minimise the cost of future changes
• Security: Fosters a security first mindset within their own teams, and leads by example. Works with security and engineering teams to refine their approach to secure coding, ensures practices align with the client's security strategy
• CI/CD: Leads the design of automated build and deployment pipelines. Guides engineering teams to identify areas of waste or duplicated effort. Guides teams to identify opportunities for improvement to existing CI/CD processes. Advocates for common tooling and practices
What you'll bring along
• Bachelor's degree/Master's degree in a software engineering-related discipline (preferably in Computer Science) or equivalent experience
• At least 5-7 years of experience in a similar position
• Must Have experience with Microservices patterns/ frameworks, Java 8/11, Spring or Node.js, web security, REST Services, API security, Docker, Jira, Confluence, TDD, Scrum, Git
• Should Have experience with GraphQL, AWS resources like Lambda, S3, SQS, dynamo DB etc
• Unit testing using Junit4/5 and mocking frameworks like Mockito
• Any Continuous CI/CD pipelines with a security and automation first approach (ideally GitHub actions)
• Experience with IntelliJ
• Experience with Maven
• Very good verbal and written communication skills in English
Nice to have (Knowledge or hands-on ) experience with:
• Infrastructure as code - Terraform OR CDK OR cloud formation, GitHub actions
• MongoDB, Apache Kafka and Kubernetes
• Microservices implementation using SpringBoot or any other frameworks
• BDD using Cucumber
