The Production Engineer will own sustaining and quality assurance activities for commercial products and lead continuous improvement projects to drive process efficiency and reduce product variation. The Engineer will work closely with various business functions to support manufacturing processes and resolve customer product quality inquiries. The position is within the Entegris Graphite manufacturing Business focusing on custom Graphite machining.  This position reports to the Site Engineering Manager.

 

In this role you will:

  • Sustain productivity and quality levels of the manufacturing process. Activities include dispositioning of non-conforming materials (raw materials, intermediates and finished goods), establish/review/update SPC/SQC control limits, maintain FMEAs and Control Plans, and participate in customer quality and ISO audits.
  • Drive productivity in the manufacturing process by identifying opportunities and implementing solutions to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost. Monitor and manage continuous improvement plans.
  • Reduce variation in product and process parameters by identifying key contributors to variation and implementing effective control systems and enhanced manufacturing processes.
  • Lead root cause investigations of manufacturing out-of-control conditions by fixing equipment and processes, observing and performing experiments, locating the source of problems and implementing permanent effective corrective actions.
  • Act as the equipment and process technical specialist and provide training and certification to the Operation Associates.
  • Act as a mentor to the Process Engineering Technician role and direct the role’s day-to-day and long-term project activities based on business need.
  • Develop and execute Design of Experiment trials, manage new product scale-ups, and lead new equipment installations & qualifications as dictated by business need.
  • Manage the development of processing equipment operating programs and parameters.
  • Lead machine breakdown resolution by providing guidance and hands-on assistance to remedy and correct issues. Manage external repair resources as needed for technical repairs.
  • Assist in improving upon the preventative maintenance program to optimize machine and equipment uptime for production.

 

Traits we believe make a strong candidate:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Polymer, Materials or Chemical Engineering, or related technical field required.
  • Experience with ceramic materials preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing environment setting required.
  • Experience with manufacturing equipment with programmable user interfaces and planning is a plus.
  • Capital Project management experience preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.
  • Experience with statistical software is required, experience with Minitab and/or JMP preferred.
  • Experience with using precision measuring equipment.
  • Experience with powered machine tools such as vertical CNC mills, manual and CNC lathes, surface and centerless grinders, cup grinders, bandsaws, and other machining equipment preferred.
  • Engineering knowledge and experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is a plus.
  • Equipment maintenance/repair and technical understanding of production machines required.
  • Ability to read operation manuals, engineering specifications and diagrams.
  • Strong statistical knowledge and background related to Six Sigma, SPC/SQC, and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Planning and organization; collaboration and teamwork with multi-functional teams.
  • Flexibility in schedule to meet manufacturing/business needs including ‘on call’ Operations Associate support on evenings and weekends.
