About the role

We are searching for an experienced Duck Creek Integration Engineer to join our Benchmarq ® team. In this role, you will work closely with multiple departments to guarantee the success and efficiency of projects that support our Lower Middle Market Benchmarq package insurance. 

The Integration Engineer is accountable for creating workflow and system specifications and managing project tasks to provide IT solutions that assist applications, following Agile program methodology. They will have the ability to serve as a mediator between the business and technical teams, as well as guide and assist both internal and external users throughout the lifespan of the application.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop business and technical requirement documents, including technical specifications (such as Swagger documentation for APIs)
  • Support quality assurance and user acceptance testing processes
  • Implement new processes through system modifications and workflow changes, including automation and regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate with internal application owners for API integration, UAT testing, and production release.
  • Provide post-production release support
  • Work with business teams to prioritize stories and defects, and ensure developers understand and properly implement specifications
  • Debug defects through log analysis and database queries
  • Track issues through JIRA and maintain regular updates on sprint progress

Functional Competencies:

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in the SDLC, implementing new applications and major enhancements, including underwriting, financial, statistical reporting, or claims systems
  • Strong business acumen and extensive experience in commercial insurance, with significant exposure to the underwriting process life cycle
  • Proven experience in client-facing roles, with expert skills in requirements gathering, and the ability to uncover client needs through various methods, even when clients cannot articulate these needs themselves
  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum SDLC methodology
  • Ability to communicate technically complex IT concepts to business users effectively
  • Ability to collaborate with technical teams (developers, architects, QA, infrastructure) and business partners to document and implement system modifications on time and within budget
  • Excellent understanding of how technology impacts the business
  • Strong team player with a proven track record of individual contribution
  • Outstanding interpersonal, documentation, communication, and presentation skills
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the insurance industry; knowledge of the Property & Casualty insurance industry and familiarity with a wide range of insurance applications preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing new applications and major system enhancements

Technical Competencies:

  • Portfolio Management, Program Management, Project Management
  • Agile Engineering
  • Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Insurance Policy Administration System experience (Duck Creek, Guidewire, etc.)
  • Understanding of XML and/or JSON specifications
  • Strong SQL skills to query SQL/NoSQL databases 

Education, Knowledge, Experience:

  • Delivery experience as a program or portfolio manager
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software development, or business OR equivalent experience in information technology, business, technology, product development and management
  • Portfolio, Program and / or Project management certifications (PRINCE2, MSP, PMP, PgMP, PfMP) preferred
  • Agile certifications (CSM, SAFe) preferred
  • Business Analysis certification a plus
  • Insurance specific training or designation a plus.
