This role leads Internal Audit’s digital and analytics strategy, with a focus on audit analytics, automation, process mining, AI, dashboards, and continuous auditing. It is ideal for a leader who has built or scaled data-driven audit capabilities and wants to improve risk insight, efficiency, and audit quality across a large, complex enterprise.

• Lead a high-impact audit analytics and digital assurance capability across the enterprise
• Translate business and risk questions into data-driven insights and audit solutions
• Build dashboards, repeatable analytics, and automation that improve audit coverage and efficiency
• Partner with audit, risk, and technology leaders to modernize how Internal Audit works
• Coach and develop a hybrid team of audit and analytics professionals

This will be a people leader position with at a minimum 2 Director level and 1 staff direct reports

This position will be hired on a SuccessFlex basis. 

The hired associate must reside within 35 miles of the following location(s): 

1 Nationwide Plaza

Work schedule: At a minimum 2 days in office, 3 days remote.

As the Sr Director, Internal Audit – Digital Auditing Insights, you will a team responsible for enabling data & analytics, process intelligence, AI and other digital capabilities across Property & Casualty (P&C), Nationwide Financial (NF), Corporate and Technology audit portfolios. You’ll provide centralized expertise and support to audit teams and drive the design and execution of digitally enabled audit and advisory approaches. You and your team will also support IA’s own operational reporting, tooling and continuous improvements.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 

• Designs and executes IA’s strategy for the use of data analytics, automation, process mining, AI and visualization across assurance and advisory engagements.

• Partners with IA peers to embed digital techniques into planning, fieldwork and reporting.

• Oversees development and maintenance of repeatable analytic routines, dashboards and insights that support audit coverage across P&C, NF, Corporate and Technology domains. Ensures appropriate data governance, documentation and quality.

• Leads efforts to leverage process mining, AI and advanced analytics to identify anomalies, emerging risks and control improvement opportunities. Supports IA’s evaluation of AI‑enabled business processes and controls.

• Collaborates with Professional Practices to integrate digital capabilities into IA methodology, templates and training. Influences the selection, implementation and use of IA tools and platforms.

• Works closely with risk partners across the enterprise to help drive an integrated approach to the use of digital assurance techniques and capabilities to enable a connected risk management approach to technologically driven Three Lines of Defense approach at Nationwide.

• Provides analytics and reporting to support IA operations (e.g., plan coverage analytics, issue and action tracking, KPI/KRI reporting, portfolio views for the SVP and Audit Committee).

• Builds digital literacy across the IA organization through coaching, training and reusable assets.
