Overview

Student Orientation and Transition Services is seeking an innovative marketer with excellent communication and writing skills to join our leadership team. Funding for this position has been secured for two years, with continued position duration beyond two years contingent upon funding.

This position will work specifically with the Student Orientation and Transition Services department, but will collaborate with the Admissions office and other enrollment offices. Our offices are highly collaborative, and value individual contributions to common goals and objectives. We guide incoming students, and their parents, as they navigate the recruitment and enrollment processes. Responsibilities

  • Understand the structure, policies, and procedures of USU.
  • Interface with staff in various offices to meet their needs when communicating with admitted students and their parents.
  • Collaborate with numerous subject matter experts across the university to ensure our content is accurate and effective.
  • Partner with the New Student Enrollment leadership team to help identify goals and improve student outcomes.
  • Lead the efforts to provide a cohesive stream of communication to students in the confirmed and enrolled stages of the recruitment funnel.
  • Design and implement campaigns in the Parent and Family Network portal (CampusESP) and Modern Campus Messaging system (formerly Signalvine). This includes building out HTML script, setting multiple parameters to pull the correct population, and customizing the information as much as possible for granular communication.
  • Design and deploy marketing initiatives, and review best practices used at other colleges and universities.
  • Edit articles written for the Parent and Family Network portal (CampusESP).
  • Write new content, and update existing content, for various orientation pieces, including emails, texts, websites, online orientation modules, video scripts, presentation slides, etc.
  • Streamline communications to use consistent voice and tone, considering the audience and changing needs of our incoming students and parents.
  • Edit the 5-module online orientation slides for various student groups, in collaboration with various office members.
  • Hold focus groups with incoming students and parents to determine where we can provide further information to better convert and orient new students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues at statewide campuses and learn how to best tune our information and communication for specific students.
  • Edit and publish print publications, including the Parent Handbook, Student Handbook, schedules, student handouts, etc.
  • Collaborate with other offices to create and maintain a student yield dashboard to help incoming students in various student groups understand their needed tasks and where they are in the enrollment process.
  • Assess effectiveness of communication plans and initiatives and prepare reports as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, technical writing, communications or related field plus two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required.Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with technical writing or editing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of USU structure, policies, and procedures.
  • Understanding of the student recruitment and onboarding processes.
  • Experience working with the Campus ESP parent portal, Advantage Orientation, or Modern Campus Messenger (formerly Signalvine).
