POSITION SUMMARY:
The Swim Instructor is responsible for conducting swim lessons for both group and one-on-one private swim lessons. Lessons are conducted in the morning hours and may also be offered in the evening. The Swim Instructor is responsible for instructing and developing athletes. This role involves designing and implementing training programs, providing instruction and feedback, and fostering a positive and competitive environment for athletes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Maintain a valid American Red Cross Water Safety certification, a valid American Red Cross Basic Life Support certification, and a valid American Red Cross Bloodborne Pathogens certification
- Teach swimming and water safety skills to students of all ages and abilities, following the curriculum outlined by the American Red Cross
- Utilize all teaching tools provided, complete attendance records, track students' progress, complete course completion cards, and submit all Red Cross Course Records
- Teaching relevant skills, tactics, and techniques to a wide range of athletes, individuals, and groups
- Monitoring, evaluating, and enhancing participant performance and needs
- Providing suitable feedback via positivity, encouragement, example, and motivation
- Demonstrating an activity clearly by breaking down the task or technique into a sequence
- Maintain participant safety through preventative instruction
- Understand and enforce all rules and regulations
- Always be in the water with each class for all levels
- Check the area for safety hazards and try to eliminate them
- Ensuring a safe environment for all participants
- Implementing the lesson plans in an accurate, creative, positive, and efficient fashion
- All additional duties assigned by management
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:
- Have a thorough understanding of swimming fundamentals, progressions, and techniques for swimmers of all ages. Must be willing to teach swimmers of all abilities, including students with increased needs.
- Experience and success in customer service, leadership, and team building
- Action-oriented personality with a 'get it done' attitude and proficiency for efficiency

- Has American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor
