About the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management:

The Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell delivers educational programming across six different MBA programs with the intent of developing highly successful and ethical business leaders of the future. Johnson’s Career Management Center prepares MBA students from both the residential and executive programs for a competitive job market with advising, workshops, networking, and access to appropriate tools/resources.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director of Johnson Residential MBA & MSBA Career Services, with a dotted line to the Senior Director of Career Management at Cornell Tech, the      Career Advisor      will support business      students in the Johnson Cornell Tech MBA Program (including 1 +1Tech Program students) during their time on the Cornell Tech campus.

The Career Advisor will serve as a functional and industry specialist in the tech industry advising diverse MBA students pursuing a variety of career paths within that industry and beyond. Year-round      coaching duties may include advising on resume and cover letter writing, networking, interviewing skills, job search strategies, and U.S. work authorization policies and immigration trends. Knowledge of technology and related industries, including emerging trends, will be very important given the student’s interest. 

This role will work closely with the Ithaca CMC team (including the Ithaca Tech Career Advisor). The position will also coordinate with the Cornell Tech Career Management team, particularly around employer outreach, company visits, campus events, and logistics. In addition to working with students, this role will also include corporate engagement to strengthen relationships with the Johnson Cornell Tech and 1+1 Tech MBA programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 3 – 5 years of work experience in a corporate or university setting.
  • Experience working with international students or experience demonstrating intercultural communicative competency.
  • Familiarity with U.S. immigration policies and trends affecting MBA level graduates.
