About the role

JOB SUMMARY 

 

As the StoneAge Accounting Manager, you will build relationships with other departments to support business decision making through on-time and accurate financial reporting. You are a resourceful problem-solver who researches the answers or connects them to the right person. You will maintain the general ledger, closing month-end accounts, and prepare financial statements for StoneAge. Oversee AR collections and AP processing, assist in cash management, budgeting, and technical accounting – all while maintaining precision in a fast-paced work environment.  

 

This position reports to the StoneAge Controller and has a starting salary of $100,000 to $115,000 per year.

 

What You’ll Be Doing 

 

Reporting/Budgeting/Month End 

 

  • Assist in month-end and year-end financial reporting, including financial statement preparation, and updating financial data for the Management team, Board of Directors, and outside firms as needed.  
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations/review and income statement analysis for StoneAge and its subsidiaries.  
  • Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process for all AR and AP accounts 
  • Provide Month End analysis and metrics for assigned sections 

 

Treasury Management  

  • Assist in global treasury management, currency exchange management and cash projections. 
  • Performs monthly/quarterly borrowing base and debt covenant testing. 
  • Participates in management of our banking relationships 
  • Evaluate foreign currency hedging opportunities and assist in developing a program 

 

Accounts Receivable/Payable 

  • Manages Accounts Receivable for all entities and monitors accounts at risk, reviews credit applications and credit limit adjustments.  
  • Manages Accounts Payable for all entities and ensures vendors are paid timely and invoices are correctly coded.  
  • Makes suggestions on improvements and looks for automation opportunities in the Sales and Purchase cycles for process to improve cash flow and efficiency of team.  
  • Manage employee credit card program supporting card owners and monitoring credit card policy implementation. 
  • Reviews AR, AP, GRNI, DMR, and Return for credit reports for accuracy and timeliness to ensure transactions are posted in the correct periods and all credits that need to be issued have been. 
  • Sets quarterly goals for AP and AR teams that align with the company’s strategic plan for the year. 
  • Responsible for year-end compliance including but not limited to 1099 reporting and support of use tax filings 

 

Policies and Procedures 

  • Develop policies and procedures in conjunction with Controller with respect to revenue and purchasing cycles to strengthen internal controls, improve team efficiency and provide teammates and customers with proper guidance 
  • Participate in company Strategic Initiatives implementations as requested 
  • Participate in all process improvements related to the purchase and sales cycles. 

 

Other 

  • Assist Controller and external preparers with annual review and audits, tax returns, foreign returns, while maintaining clean, traceable records 
  • Manages AP and AR teams and performs Own It Chats and Annual Reviews with direct reports. 
  • Review career development plans at least annually with all direct reports.

  • Assist in lean initiatives and improvement projects as requested by the Controller & VP of Finance 
  • All other duties as requested by the Controller

  • Travel may be required from time to time 

Requirements

The Accounting Manager must have: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, CPA preferred 
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in performing accounting functions with specific experience in balance sheet reconciliations, treasury, budgeting, and auditing or tax 
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.  
  • Experience in foreign operation desired. 
  • Proficient understanding of US GAAP and its application to accounting practices 
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
