Collins Aerospace is seeking a dynamic Cost Estimating Specialist to join our Mission Systems Pricing and Cost Estimating team. In this critical role, you’ll be at the forefront of shaping competitive, audit-ready cost proposals that support groundbreaking Space Systems programs, including Human Spaceflight, NASA, and the Department of Defense.

You’ll collaborate across key functional areas—engineering, procurement, program management, and operations—to develop accurate material hardware cost estimates that enable mission success. Strong relationship-building skills are essential as you work within a fast-paced, cross-functional environment to support high-impact government proposals.

What YOU Will Do

  • Handling multiple projects simultaneously

  • Analyze supplier quotations and purchase orders to determine reasonableness prior to data entry

  • Data entry into Cost Estimating tool

  • Reviewing SAP BoM (bill of material) structures and material master data to estimate material costs

  • Performing variance analysis to previous bids

  • Understanding manufacturing cost flows and application of material rates and factors

  • Reviewing estimates with proposal teams to provide business insight in support of gate reviews

  • Identifying and quantifying proposal risks and opportunities

  • Supporting customer fact finding and government assist audits with support

  • Ensuring compliance with internal procedures and FAR/DFARS requirements

  • Prepare proposal pricing review package for management

  • Minimum travel onsite for customer negotiations or other special events, as needed

 Qualifications YOU Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Bachelors’ degree in Finance, Business Management, or related/applicable field

  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel and SAP to include Project Systems, Material Master Data, and Procurement modules

  • Experience in an Operations/Manufacturing related field

  • Familiarity with BidMaster.Web (BMW)

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills

  • Strong time management skills, to ensure bids are completed on schedule

  • Capable of working both independently and in a team environment
