The Senior Associate, Strategic Projects will be an important member of the New Ventures team at RWE Clean Energy (RWECE). The team sits within the broader Strategy organization and helps to ensure the long-term viability of the business by scanning and testing for emerging markets, technologies, and business models in and adjacent to RWECE’s core business. The Senior Associate will work closely with the New Ventures team and colleagues across the broader business to enable RWECE to keep up with the challenging pace of growth, solidify our position as a market leader, and future-proof the business by identifying long-term innovative growth opportunities in adjacent and complimentary markets. Requirements:

  • Work jointly with team members to perform financial analysis, risk/opportunity assessments, and feasibility studies of new opportunities
  • Conduct market analysis and research to identify potential growth opportunities and trends in the renewable energy sector and adjacent energy transition sectors
  • Identify, understand, and monitor emerging technologies and innovations in the renewable energy sector, assessing their commercial impact on the business
  • Assist VP in the development of business strategies for new ventures, considering market dynamics and competitive landscape
  • Create and analyze financial models to assess the financial viability and potential returns of new projects
  • Present reports to senior management, summarizing key findings, risks, and recommendations
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, investors, and industry partners
  • Project Management: Assist in the planning and execution of new ventures, coordinating activities across various teams.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field required
  • Minimum 3 years of research, consulting, or engineering experience required– a specific focus on the energy industry is preferred
  • The aptitude to quickly gain an in-depth understanding of new ideas and technologies and synthesize complex information into easy-to-digest deliverables
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage customer relationships
  • Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
  • Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
  • Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
  • Detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts

 

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in New York is $71,000 - $105,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S. locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
