Job Description
We have an opening for an HR Benefits Coordinator. Under general supervision, you will provide a full range of moderately difficult administrative duties, requiring flexibility, tact, customer service, and use of discretion with sensitive information. This position is in the Benefits Office.
Pay Range
$27.13 - $32.93 Hourly (440.2)
$31.33 - $38.03 Hourly (440.3)

An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
This position may offer a hybrid schedule, which includes the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week, after a probationary period. The specifics of the hybrid schedule, including the exact number of days required in the office and virtual work options may vary based on the needs of the team and the organization.
In this role you will
• Answer incoming calls, Service Now inquires, greet customers, and answer general benefits questions to resolve problems regarding benefits eligibility and service, and make appropriate referrals.
• Enter data of benefits forms as needed.
• Provide information to employees and retirees on applicable policies, state laws, and procedures affecting LLNS Health and Welfare and retirement plans. Research issues/escalations and refer to other benefits team members when appropriate.
• Process a wide variety of benefit transactions for employees involving all LLNS group insurance plans to ensure compliance with group insurance summary plan descriptions and retirement plan documents.
• Prepare and maintain a variety of benefits procedure manuals.
• Provide support for LLNS extended leave programs and absence management.
• Log and retrieve data by accessing a variety of computer platforms with specialized software.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional job responsibilities at the 440.3 level
• Gather information from various sources, compile data and prepare complex reports and presentations.
• Ability to interpret policies, procedures related to functional responsibilities.
• Ability to make recommendations for process improvements.
Qualifications
• Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE L-level security which requires U.S. citizenship.
• Experience utilizing organizational skills in order to multitask in an environment of rapidly changing priorities, deadlines, and frequent interruptions.
• Experience with electronic payroll/personnel computer systems, including data entry and retrieval.
• Customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills necessary to interact with customers, peers, and all levels of management, including independent coordination of multiple tasks using tact, mature judgement, flexibility, and discretion.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member with limited task definition.
• Basic computer skills and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, Entrust, or Adobe Acrobat, and ability to learn new software quickly.
• Maintain schedule flexibility and excellent attendance.
Additional Qualifications at the 440.3 Level
• Intermediate knowledge of HR policies and procedures.
• Experienced compiling, tracking and monitoring data and results.
• Effective organizational, prioritizing tasks and attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and written skills.
• Intermediate computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, calendaring.
Qualifications We Desire
• Knowledge of employee benefit plans and the ability to explain complex group insurance regulations and retirement plan provisions.
• Knowledge of basic payroll processing.
• Experience using PeopleSoft, Oracle & Cisco phone systems.
