                                                        Custodian, 2nd shift (.5) part-time
                                                             3:00pm to 7:00pm, 195 day calendar
 

Salary:       starting pay $21.26/hr

Job Title:  Custodian   GENERAL DESCRIPTION


Provide a clean and safe environment for students and staff by performing the following duties.
 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  2. One to two years related experience desired

  1. Report to work regularly and on time, prepared to perform appropriately assigned duties throughout the day, in service to students, staff, and the community.

  6. Comply with federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines that prohibit coercive, harassing, threatening, retaliating, bullying or discriminating conduct.
  7. Communicate in a truthful, timely, compassionate, and empathetic manner about any matter of interest to the District following the appropriate chain of authority.
  8. Manage District property and assets in an ethical and responsible manner in accordance with federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines.
  9. Maintain confidentiality of information as required under federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines.
  10. Report actions, through the appropriate chain of authority, that may represent violations of federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines.
  11. Refrain from unethical activity that may reasonably interfere with the legitimate operational interests and goals of the District.
  12. Comply with all other federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Promote good safety practices and procedures
  2. Make contact with the public with tact and diplomacy
  3. Maintain respect at all times for confidential information
  4. Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents
  5. Dispose of debris and maintain equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly manner
  6. Report to Head Custodian or Lead Custodian, Buildings and Grounds Supervisor any damaged, broken, loose fixtures and/or equipment
  7. Secure building; check building to assure maximum security
  8. Attend meetings and in-services as required
  9. Maintain a daily work routine as established by the Head Custodian and Buildings and Grounds Supervisor to adequately service the buildings, grounds, and person
  10. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and administration.  
  11. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  12. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, agencies, intervention specialists or members of the school community.  
  13. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.  
  14. Ability to work in a team environment.
  15. Sweep, vacuum, mop and wax floors
  16. Empty and clean waste receptacles, trash pails, and pencil sharpeners
  17. Remove cobwebs and clean windows
  18. Polish furniture and woodwork
  19. Clean and maintain custodial equipment and materials
  20. Clean and sanitize assigned school, e.g., restrooms, classrooms, spills, etc.
  21. Help with setup and cleanup for various school activities
  22. Use, measure and relabel chemicals per OSHA standards
  23. Clean carpets
  24. Wash all furniture, walls, halls, windows, window seals, and doors
  25. Disinfect water fountains
  26. Spot mop and mop classrooms
  27. Remove writing on walls
  28. Maintain respect at all times for confiden
