Job Summary
The Facility Security Officer (Security Specialist III/IV) will be responsible for implementing and maintaining a security program that complies with the NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117) and other regulations, and partnering with cognizant security authorities, senior management, and personnel. The FSO provides on-site support for all security actions in accordance with corporate and governmental policies and directives.
Work Model
This position will be located 100% onsite - Vandenberg SFB.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Administers, executes, and ensures adherence to company and government regulations, policies, and procedures regarding the protection of company, customer and government information and assets. This includes proprietary, unclassified but sensitive, and up to and including classified information.
- Supports personnel security clearance processes and ensures cleared personnel are provided clear, applicable, and effective training; initially and regularly thereafter.
- Provides security orientation to new employees and transfers including badging, clearance requirements, fingerprinting, reporting requirements, terminations, and debriefings.
- Provides support to all investigations, threats, insider threats, and workplace violence issues.
- Works closely with VSFB security authorities to implement procedures to support the military installation’s requirements regarding visitors, emergency procedures, etc. per the applicable policies. Ensures Aerospace personnel (resident and visitors) comply with the installation’s security operating procedures.
- Submits security and safety-related articles for newsletters and other forums. Provides training, briefings, and educational material as part of ongoing security education for VSFB staff.
- Prepares for and supports government inspections, reviews, and audits of the security program and addresses any action items. Maintains good communication with on-site and organizational leadership.
- Participates in and supports enterprise security programs, team meetings and projects as part of the FSOs ongoing training and education, and to implement corporate policy consistently.
- Assists other Aerospace offices as needed and adjusts to and supports security requirements as the office environment and customer portfolio changes.
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to pass the CDSE FSO for Possessing Facilities Certification within 6 months of hire
- Experience with government security systems (DISS, NBIS, etc.)
- Experience in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel
- Have effective interpersonal skills to coordinate efforts and work with other internal and external organizations
- Demonstrate flexibility and ability to adapt to changing organizational needs
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Active secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI. U.S. citizenship is required.
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- 10 years of relevant experience with Bachelor’s Degree, or 8 or more years of relevant experience with Master’s Degree
- Completion of CDSE FSO certification
- Experience with SIMS security management tool
- Active TS/SCI with adjudicated polygraph
- Security-related training and certifications (ISP, SFPC, SAPPC, PSC, ISOC, CPP, etc.)
