Summary
HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our Integrated Training Systems – Systems Engineering (ITS SE) team in Virginia Beach. In this role, you will support real‑world engineering, integration, and test efforts for U.S. Navy training systems using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) within complex system architectures.
The Systems Engineer will support engineering tasks related to integrated Navy training systems, including system architecture development, requirements analysis, test planning, and preparation of technical documentation. This role contributes to the design, modeling, and sustainment of system-of-systems architectures supporting ITS SE programs.
What you will do
• Conduct requirements analysis, documentation, modeling activities, configuration updates, and system integration tasks.
• Perform engineering research, technical investigations, or data analysis for active projects.
• Prepare engineering diagrams, technical materials, and model‑based documentation for project reviews and engineering events.
• Provide administrative and technical support during team stand‑ups, coordination meetings, and engineering reviews.
• Support project assignments by maintaining technical records, logs, and engineering artifacts.
• Perform additional duties as assigned in support of the ITS SE engineering team.
What you must have
- 0 years experience with Bachelors in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience.
- Familiarity with systems engineering concepts or technical fundamentals (e.g., programming basics such as C/C++ or Java, modeling/simulation principles, or system architecture concepts).
- Willingness to learn and apply Model Based Systems Engineering processes.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated analytical thinking, problem‑solving ability, and attention to detail.
- Self‑motivated with a desire to gain practical experience in an engineering environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Do.D Secret clearance
Preferred
- Degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering or SysML tools.
- Active Secret clearance.
- Coursework or experience in engineering or technical fields (Systems, Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Software, or related).
- Interest in modeling & simulation, Navy training systems, or complex system‑of‑systems engineering.
