JOB SUMMARY: Provide professional nursing care for clinic patients while following established standards and practices as defined by clinic policies and/or nursing licensing requirements. Work under the direct supervision of the Provider. Refers matters outside the scope of duties to the Provider, Nurse Supervisor, or Practice Manager.
INTERACTIONS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Interaction with all level of employees at the site and heavy patient contact. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medical preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing, sitting and walking. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 75 pounds. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires exposure to bodily fluids. Must be able to handle stress with composure.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs general nursing duties such as caring for patients, administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards and as ordered by the Provider.
- Prepares equipment, supplies and/or instruments and assists the Provider during treatment, examination, procedures and testing of patients.
- Observes, records and reports patient conditions for drug reactions.
- Maintains timely flow of patients and ensure preferences are given to patients in more urgent situations.
- Greet patients, take vital signs, screens for appropriate information to be put in EHR under reason for visit, and prepares patients for examination.
- Arranges for outpatient testing or admissions to hospital.
- Responds to and refers incoming calls appropriately and as directed by Provider.
- Formulates and updates patient care plans, orders, procedures, and record information concisely and accurately within the patient’s chart (EHR).
- Prepares exam rooms including restocking of supplies.
- Attends required meetings and participates in team activities or professional development activities.
- Refill medications as directed by the Provider.
- Distribute drug samples to patients as directed by the Provider ensuring the appropriate medication and dosage is given.
- Floats to other Provider areas as requested or needed.
- Assists in the orientation of new personnel when requested.
- Create and send Lab letters or Result notifications to patients.
- Adhere to Clinic Policies and Procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a formal education program in vocational/practical nursing.
- Preferred one year nursing experience in a clinical practice.
- Current and valid state license.
- Ability to work in a busy, stressful environment under deadline situations.
- Ability to communicate and work with coworkers and patients in an effective, respectful, and professional manner.
- Ability to use a computer and enter data in an Electronic Health Record.
- Assumes responsibility for required continuing education and licensure renewals.
