A Day in the Life
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Facilities Maintenance Technician II to join our 3rd shift team at our North Haven, CT campus. This role is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance tasks across five buildings, including support for critical systems such as wastewater treatment, water softening, and HVAC-related equipment. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong mechanical aptitude, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient facility.Shift Hours: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Workdays:
- Week A: Tuesday through Saturday
- Week B: Sunday through Thursday
Training Period:
The candidate will be required to work a 1st shift schedule (6:30 AM - 3:00 PM) for approximately one month during onboarding and training. Duration may vary based on progress and readiness to transition to independent work on 3rd shift.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on building systems, machinery, and equipment.
Work across multiple trades including:
- Plumbing
- Carpentry
- Patching and painting
- Electrical
- Welding
- Machine and equipment repair
Conduct routine and special inspections to identify and address maintenance needs.
Troubleshoot, test, and repair equipment using hand and power tools.
Interpret and work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, layouts, and technical specifications.
Respond to alarms and troubleshoot issues with water softening and reverse osmosis systems (vendor-managed but may require overnight response).
Support sterilizer and HVAC-related equipment in the main building.
Coordinate work in chemical areas with appropriate scheduling and safety protocols.
Utilize Maximo to review, prioritize, and complete maintenance tickets or schedule for future resolution.
Participate in shift turnover meetings and communicate effectively with other shifts and supervisors.
Engage in ongoing training, including vendor-led sessions and peer-led instruction (e.g., scissor lift certification).
Maintain a strong safety mindset and adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications (Must Have!)
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2 years experience in facilities maintenance or a related field.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Comfortable working independently during overnight hours.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
