Mental Health Nurse
Communicare Healthcare are seeking to recruit an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse (MHN) also known as Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), to work in our HIQA regulated residential mental health facility in Galway.
This role offers a rewarding opportunity to support the provision of Mental Health care in a HIQA-regulated residential mental health facility, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and compliance. As an Mental Health Nurse with Communicare, you will leverage your clinical expertise to shape care strategies and maintain a therapeutic, supportive environment for both clients and their families.
This position is ideal for an experienced MHN/RPN with a passion for mental health care and a commitment to quality and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Care Planning: Support care planning to address individual client needs in alignment with HIQA standards. Tailor and adjust care plans proactively based on patient progress and emerging needs.
- Clinical Input: Provide clinical input to support social care staff, in the delivery of compassionate, patient-centred care.
- Client Monitoring & Intervention: Regularly monitor client progress, identifying and addressing any changes in behaviour, clinical or mental health status.
- Medication Management & Safety: Oversee and ensure safe and accurate administration of medications as per prescription, strictly adhering to best practices for psychiatric medication management and closely monitoring for any adverse effects.
- Therapeutic Relationships: Cultivate and maintain strong therapeutic relationships with clients and their families, providing emotional support and fostering effective communication. Promote a supportive and empathetic environment that encourages clients’ mental well-being.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure that all documentation, including client assessments, care plans, progress notes, and incident reports, is thorough, accurate, and compliant with HIQA and Communicare Healthcare standards.
Essential Requirements:
- Professional Registration: Active registration with the Psychiatric Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) is mandatory.
- Experience: Proven experience within a psychiatric or mental health setting is essential.
- Educational Qualifications: Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing Qualification, with additional training in management or leadership strongly preferred.
- Certifications & Compliance Training: Current training and knowledge of the Mental Health Act and HIQA standards are required, to support adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements within residential settings.
- Key Skills: The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound judgment and an empathetic approach. A strong commitment to patient-centred care and regulatory compliance is essential.
