Join us as an Aggregates and Field-Testing Laboratory Technician in the Canterbury Region!
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Laboratory Technician to join our aggregates and field-testing team based out of our Christchurch Civil Engineering Lab. You will be responsible for lab testing and operations based out of our Canterbury Laboratory and will also undertake field work, where you will encounter a great range of sites across Christchurch and the wider Canterbury/ West Coast region. Standard work hours include Monday to Friday, 7am – 4pm (40 hours minimum) with occasional night shift and weekend work.
In addition to the above you will:
- Develop test methods and apply existing appropriate international and local methodology.
- Test and report all required materials in accordance with the Fulton Hogan lab IANZ requirements.
- Provide analysis of results for relevant focus areas to internal and external clients.

We’re looking for someone with:
- A great attitude and willingness to learn on the job.
- Practical mindset with the ability to solve problems.
- Minimum 2 years’ recent experience working in an IANZ accredited civil engineering testing laboratory is essential.
- Understanding of ISO 17025.
- The ability to work both within a team and unsupervised.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
- The ability to carry out physically demanding tasks.
- A relevant qualification in earth science or civil engineering is advantageous but not essential.
