Senior Technical Accountant - hybrid 1

About the Role

• Hybrid office model (3-4 days in office per week) based out of Windsor, CT
• Resolve open receivables or payment discrepancies, oversee daily claim payments, and monthly reporting to external captive partners and internal parties
• Proactively and professionally follow up on overdue premium payments
• Support the reconciliation and collection of open receivables and the business needs of sales, corporate accounting, claims, underwriters and policyholders
• Coordinate with underwriters, policy admin, and producers to resolve premium and commission discrepancies, including the booking of premium for Employers Stop Loss Segment
• Ensures that claims are paid daily, reporting is distributed timely and providing outstanding customer (internal and external) service
• Assist and support external auditor data requests
• Collaborate closely with Finance for cash handling reporting
• Support IT in the development of new or updating of current reporting to meet changing internal or external needs

About You 

Essentials

• Accounting Degree with 3+ years of relevant work experience, Supervisory experience a plus
• Insurance industry experience, premium and claim handling preferred
• Experience in cash application, discrepancy resolution, or both
• Capability to recognize a problem, develop and implement a solution and update processes to minimize future occurrences
• Consistent track record of being a self-starter and working with limited guidance, ability to manage own workload effectively
• Customer Service focused with the ability to interact with customers to resolve questions quickly and satisfactorily
• Results-oriented working style, with strong focus on performance, targets and risk management
• Proficient in Excel

 

Nice to Haves

• Assist in developing technical accounting processes for new business initiatives
• Initiate review of routine processes for opportunities to increase efficiency and accuracy
• Strong Analytical skills (flair for figures)
