AI Automation Director - REMOTE

We currently have a career opportunity for an AI Automation Director within our rapidly growing Automation Business Unit. This is a remote position, and candidates can live anywhere in the US. There may be up to 25% travel annually.

We are seeking a highly technical and strategic leader who combines deep application development expertise with cutting-edge AI and automation knowledge. This role is perfect for a technical subject matter expert ready to drive the next evolution of intelligent automation solutions for enterprise clients.

 

Reporting to a Managing Director within the Automation Business Unit, the AI Automation Director will be responsible for:

AI & Automation Technical Leadership:

• Lead AI Strategy Implementation: Drive the integration of Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and agentic frameworks into digital process automation solutions
• Architect Intelligent Automation Solutions: Design and implement AI-powered workflow automation using platforms like Appian, ServiceNow, Pega, and Camunda
• LLM Integration & Orchestration: Develop strategies for LLM implementation, training, fine-tuning, and orchestration within enterprise automation workflows
• Technical Advisory: Provide hands-on technical guidance on AI automation architectures, API integrations, and high-code development solutions using Java, .NET, and modern development frameworks
• Innovation Leadership: Stay at the forefront of AI automation technologies, identifying emerging opportunities in machine learning, natural language processing, and intelligent document processing

Client Engagement & Solution Design:

• AI Automation Consulting: Help clients understand and implement Generative AI capabilities within their existing business processes and automation strategies
• Solution Architecture: Design comprehensive AI-enabled automation solutions that combine traditional BPM with modern AI capabilities
• Technical Pre-Sales: Lead technical discussions with clients on AI automation possibilities, demonstrating ROI and implementation pathways
• Proof of Concept Development: Build and demonstrate AI automation prototypes and pilots for prospective clients

Practice Development & Market Expansion:

• Go-to-Market Strategy: Collaborate with Alliance and Marketing teams to position Perficient's AI automation capabilities in the market
• Thought Leadership: Develop and present thought leadership content on AI automation trends, best practices, and implementation strategies
• Sales Support: Lead technical aspects of business development activities, including solution design, estimation, and proposal development for AI automation engagements
• Partnership Development: Work with technology partners (Appian, ServiceNow, Pega, Camunda) to advance joint AI automation initiatives

Team Development & Knowledge Management:

• Technical Mentorship: Guide and develop technical teams in AI automation technologies and implementation best practices
• Training Program Development: Create and deliver training programs on AI automation platforms, LLM integration, and agentic framework development
• Best Practices Documentation: Establish technical standards, methodologies, and reusable assets for AI automation implementations
• Recruitment & Skill Development: Participate in recruiting technical talent and developing AI automation competencies across the practice

Delivery Excellence:

• Technical Delivery Oversight: Provide technical guidance and quality assurance for complex AI automation implementations
• Client Success: Serve as a technical escalation point for delivery challenges and ensure successful project outcomes
• Billable Engagement: No billable utilization is required.

• Technical Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
• Consulting Experience (Preferred): 7+ years in consulting or professional services with focus on digital transformation and automation solutions
• Platform Expertise (Preferred): Deep technical experience with at least one major automation platform (Appian, ServiceNow, or Pega) including custom development, integrations, and advanced configurations
• AI/ML Knowledge (Required): Demonstrated experience with AI technologies including LLMs, machine learning, natural language processing, and AI model integration
• Generative AI Expertise (Required): Experience implementing Generative AI solutions, prompt engineering, and agentic frameworks
• Cloud Platforms (Required): Experience with cloud-native AI services (AWS, Azur
