Job Description
Grace is seeking a Production Engineer to join our Operations team! This role reports to the Operations Manager located at the Chicago 71st, IL plant.
The Production Engineer plays a critical role in managing day to day operations at the site. They are responsible for developing and managing operational plans to ensure that high quality product is produced, and rates are maximized. This position also plays an essential support role for new product development and capital engineering projects.
Responsibilities
- Actively participate in site safety programs and initiatives. Conduct near miss and incident investigations.
- Manage production quality, yield, & rate performance through development of product recipes and control plans.
- Act as first line of support for production supervisors to troubleshoot EHS & process issues.
- Maintain accuracy of plant Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and support the training of site personnel.
- Provide engineering support and area expertise for new product development and plant trials.
- Support and lead RCCAs for quality and process upsets.
- Follow the Management of Change (MOC) process, conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), and participate in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).
- Identify and scope out process improvement projects. Conduct commissioning and startup activities for projects.
Physical Requirements and Environment
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
- Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
- Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials
Required Qualifications
- BS degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent technology degree
- High energy and can-do attitude
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years engineering experience with a chemical manufacturing plant preferred
- Prefer experience with PLCs such as Allen Bradley
