General Notes

This front desk medical assistant position is located at the School of Nursing's Family Wellness Center. The work schedule is Monday 8 am-8 pm, Tuesday through Thursday 8 am-5 pm, and Friday 8 am-12 noon. This position has a scheduled end date of 1 year from the date of hire: renewal of this position is dependent upon renewal of funding, job performance, and department needs.

Responsibilities

  • Answer clinic phones, schedule patient appointments and make reminder calls
  • Accurately register patients and document billing information
  • Provide patients eligibility information for services
  • Receive and record payments and issue receipts
  • Maintain confidential patient documents
  • Evaluates and distributes incoming mail, reports and/or inquiries
  • Patient rooming and vitals intake
  • Administer point of care testing
  • Other duties as assigned in support of the Family Wellness Center
     

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduation or GED
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program
  • Fluent in English and Spanish
  • Minimum of one year performing Medical Assistant related duties
  • Ability to use computer equipment
  • Demonstrated excellent organization and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with providers, staff, and patients
  • Adherence to the highest ethical, legal, and health care standards
  • Accuracy in all phases of work performed, including following written and verbal instructions
  • Tact, diplomacy, discretion, and confidentiality of medical information are required in all matters


Preferred Qualifications

  • More than one year of experience as a front desk receptionist and/or medical assistant
  • Medical Assistant Certification

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.


Salary Range

$34,320 annual (equivalent to $16.50/hour)
