Job Summary 

Under the general supervision of the Facility Project Services Manager, the Facility Project Services Supervisor is responsible for supervising one or more small groups or crews comprised of semi-skilled and skilled journey-level crafts workers from more than one trade.

Supervise work on new construction and remodels that includes collaborating with engineering and design departments; interpreting complicated plans and drawings; coordinating work schedules and work assignments to meet the overall construction/modification objectives; sequencing of work; ensuring the availability of required materials and equipment; analyzing operations; coordinating with other leads and supervisors in scheduling specific trade workers and sequencing of work on projects; preparing cost and time estimates; ensuring accuracy and currency of computerized record-keeping and/or maintenance management systems; and providing a high level of inspection to ensure appropriate building and safety codes are met. May also design minor tenant improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and coordinate the work of one or more groups or crews or projects. Supervise work on new construction and remodels. May design minor tenant improvements. Perform take offs for material and labor and assist with estimates.  Provide project update reports.
  • Perform skilled carpentry work to support new construction, repairs and renovations.
  • Coordinate and assist in applicable inspections and testing throughout the course of a construction project.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Ability to perform skilled work at a journey man level with a thorough knowledge of materials, methods, and tools used in new construction, repairs and renovations. Able to use and manipulate machinery and hand tools associated with maintenance and construction to meet the customer’s expectations in an excellent manner.  Working knowledge of safety orders of the Industrial Accident Commission dealing with carpentry, heating, electrical, plumbing, and other mechanical systems. Ability to read, interpret, and work from plans, drawings, and specifications. Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the job; good oral and written communication skills. 

Ability to estimate time and materials needed.  Ability to maintain records and retrieve data related to work performed using manual and or computerized record keeping software.  Ability to provide instruction to unskilled and semi-skilled assistants. Ability to analyze and respond appropriately to emergency situations. Ability to lead instruct and coordinate the work of small group or crew of skilled and semi-skilled workers. Able to climb ladders and work in high/confined spaces. Ability to recognizing the need and utilize the use of proper safety guidelines including review of MSDS, following of all instruction noted in the installation manuals and wearing the required PPE for specific tasks.
