Job Duties

Manages a comprehensive district nursing program, typically through supervision of
Registered Nurse Managers I. Responsibilities include developing external funding
sources; managing FTEs, and budget; developing private and public partnerships; and
developing and implementing long term staff development plans. Recruits staff,
procures and administers grants, conducts community needs assessment, allocates
resources, monitors quality assurance of service delivery, and serves as district
management team member. Requires licensure as a RN by state code.

VDH requires all Health-Care Personnel (HCP) to provide documentation of immunization or evidence of immunity to the following: hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella; a one-time dose of tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine regardless of the interval since the last dose of tetanus-diphtheria (Td) vaccine was administered (Td or Tdap boosters shall be received every 10 years); and the current year's seasonal influenza vaccination.

Minimum Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of nursing management, public health nursing, and
practices of public health
• Proven ability to provide effective leadership and operations management;
ability to direct subordinate nurse managers and supervisors in achieving
agency objectives
• Excellent skills in oral and written communication, community assessment,
planning, and staff development
• Considerable ability to collaboratively lead staff, synthesize and interpret data,
and communicate effectively with staff, patients, and the public; ability to
monitor and evaluate quality assurance of nursing programs; ability to present
results and nursing outcomes to internal and external constituencies

Additional Considerations

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
• Nursing and senior-level administrative and supervisory experience in public
health, as well as experience with the Incident Command System (ICS), is
preferred
