Position Overview:
The athletics admission coordinator is responsible for coordinating athletic admissions events. This position will assist the Athletics Department and Admissions Department in coordinating enrollment goals, including but not limited to the overseeing open houses/admitted student days, work with the Athletics Compliance Office on official visits, and enrollment and student athlete projections. This Athletics Admission Coordinator reports to the Senior Associate AD/SWA and will work in accordance with NCAA Division I, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), Hockey East Association, and any additional athletic conference affiliation as well as Merrimack College rules, regulations and policies.
Primary Responsibilities:
Acts as liaison with various departments within the College including students, parents, academic department and athletic department.
Evaluate coursework and degree requirements to ensure student athletes follow program requirements for continuing NCAA eligibility requirements necessary for certification to compete.
Coordinate campus recruiting visits for prospective students; represents the College in its recruitment efforts and in providing outreach services.
Maintains communication via telephone, correspondence, and/or electronic mail with prospective students through all stages of the recruitment and admission process.
Assists with the formulation, development, and implementation of admissions-related and eligibility-related policies and procedures.
Coordinates and organizes admitted student days, athletic open houses and all activities associated with activity fairs.
Work collaboratively with coaches, student athletes and athletic department staff; provide proactive communication on eligibility, academic and admission issues to Academic and Athletic Development staff.
Lead process to evaluate incoming student athletes academic and eligibility status through collaboration with multiple departments, including Admissions and the Athletic Department.
Oversee Initial Athletic Aid Agreement Process (formerly National Letter of Intent) process for incoming student athletes.
Coordinate all official and unofficial visits with coaches/ administrators.
Educational Training:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and intercollegiate athletics.
Commitment to supporting the academic success and overall well-being of student-athletes.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in high stress/pressure situations when talking to patients, medical professionals, staff and families.
Organizational Skills: Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision.
Ability to attend events and activities on and off campus and to interact and communicate with parents, students, faculty and staff and other campus partners.
Ability to work during the day as well as non-traditional hours in the evening, on weekends and on holidays, as necessary.
