What you’ll do:

 

In this role, you will play a critical role in designing and building the server-side systems that power our community features and Add-On framework. Reporting to the VP of Developer Experience, you will be responsible for creating secure, scalable, and resilient systems that can handle real-time data and a high volume of user interactions.

In this role, you will:

• Architect, implement, and optimize backend services and APIs that drive NinjaTrader’s core functionality and next-generation server-side ecosystem utilizing Rust and Kubernetes
• Collaborate with front-end teams, product managers, and other stakeholders to define technical requirements and ensure smooth integration with user-facing features
• Build and maintain microservices or modular server-side components to support high availability and scalability
• Implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure performance and reliability of production systems
• Drive continuous improvement by introducing best practices for code quality, deployment pipelines, and system observability
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to growing a culture of engineering excellence
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to performance, concurrency, and data consistency

What you'll need:

• 7+ years of professional experience in backend or full-stack software development, with a focus on server-side architectures
• Deep proficiency in one or more high-level programming languages commonly used in backend development (e.g., Node.js/TypeScript, C#, Java, Go, Rust)
• Experience working with modern cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP), container orchestration (Kubernetes), and serverless architectures
• Strong knowledge of database systems (SQL and NoSQL), caching strategies, and data pipelines
• Demonstrated experience building and optimizing microservices and RESTful/GraphQL APIs
• Understanding of event-driven or real-time systems, with proficiency in message queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) or WebSockets
• Proven ability to design and implement secure, scalable, and fault-tolerant backend solutions
• Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills; able to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
