Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a bright and highly motivated Entry Level Environmental Engineer for employment in our Water Business Line based out of our New York, NY office.
This is position will assist and support Wastewater/Water Design and Program Management Projects. The Position will work with Project Managers on all project phases including Facility Planning, Design, Procurement, Construction and Close Out. Work will include helping with the management and coordination of design projects on Wastewater/Water treatment facilities. Field work will be required and field visits to project sites within the NYC Metro area will be required to provide support as design liaison on ongoing construction projects.
This position is expected to begin in June 2024.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Prepares designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
- Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
- Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
- Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tasks.
- Identifies discrepancies in results and proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
- Builds analytic and design skills.

- experienced engineer.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental or Bioenvironmental/Bioresource Engineering with an emphasis in water, wastewater, water resources, or related field required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred.
- Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Education geared towards water and wastewater engineering – emphasis on engineering principles to the enhancement and sustainability of the world’s natural resources.
- Interest in sustainability, combatting climate change, greenhouse gas emissions reductions and general knowledge of Scope 1/2/3/4 type emissions.
- Self-starter and ability to take initiative, proactive.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to present ideas.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy of work with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate and work with a diverse and progressive team.
- Ability to meet quality, schedule and budget expectations.
- Ability to multi-task and be flexible while meeting deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Teams).
