Job Description
The Senior Director, Federal Drug Pricing Policy drives strategic analysis and the development of policy and advocacy materials to address federal drug pricing reforms, including the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and Most Favored Nation proposals. This role also will partner on initiatives to articulate and demonstrate the value of medicines, including preparation for potential US value assessments and informing evidence generation strategies for in-line and late-stage pipeline products.
Job Description
The Senior Director, Federal Drug Pricing Policy leads strategic analysis and the development of policy and advocacy materials to address federal drug pricing reforms, including the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and Most Favored Nation proposals. This role also will partner on initiatives to articulate and demonstrate the value of medicines, including preparation for potential US value assessments and informing evidence generation strategies for in-line and late-stage pipeline products.
This position provides leadership in US pricing policy and analytics to mitigate policy-related risks, protect patient access, and support the sustainable value of current and future medicines. With accountability for strategic positioning in response to US drug pricing reform, the role has broad impact across the US portfolio and pipeline and provides recommendations to senior leadership to inform decision-making on U.S. pricing policy strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Policy Leadership & Analysis
- Drive US pricing policy strategy and enterprise positioning in response to the IRA and evolving federal policy landscape
- Direct quantitative and qualitative analyses to assess pricing reform impacts and inform senior leadership decision-making
- Provide insights on CMS pricing methodologies, outcomes, and external benchmarks to guide strategy and governance
- Evaluate policy impacts across in-line products, pipeline assets, and business development opportunities
- Shape and advance the company’s federal policy agenda on drug pricing and the value of medicines
- Strengthen analytical capabilities, including adoption of advanced analytics and AI-enabled approaches
- Enhance governance, processes, and operating models to improve execution and decision-making in partnership with leadership.
Inflation Reduction Act (IRA)
- Drive end-to-end analytical readiness, project management, and execution for the Medicare price negotiation (IRA price-setting) process, including development of manufacturer submissions to CMS.
- Direct cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality submissions aligned with regulatory requirements and timelines.
- Establish, oversee and communicate clearly and proactively on coordinated workplans, processes, and governance frameworks to ensure execution excellence across workstreams.
- Assess the impact of IRA price-setting on in-line products, pipeline assets, and potential business development opportunities.
- Serve as an early-warning system for emerging pricing risks and opportunities, including forecasting IRA drug selection cycles.
Most Favored Nation (MFN)
- Develop advocacy materials to defend against MFN pricing in public programs.
- Work with cross-functional colleagues to assess MFN risks and inform internal response strategies.
- Inform trade association and consultant analyses to support MFN advocacy.
