Director, International Logistics

Manages import logistic services to ensure cost effective and timely delivery of imported merchandise to the distribution center and stores.

Job Scope

This position directly supervises the International Logistics Analyst.

Essential Functions

1. Manage imported merchandise order flow to ensure merchandise is available for shipments to stores in a timely and cost efficient manner.

 

2. Act as liaison between Variety and U.S. Customs, while coordinating U.S. product entry activities to ensure regulatory and record keeping compliance.

 

3. Ensure international traffic services finance programs are followed consistently with established company and financial institutions' requirements.

 

4. Communicate pertinent international logistics issues to appropriate merchandising staff, as outlined by contractors and/or trade publications.

 

5. Select, develop, motivate, and retain international services staff.

 

Ancillary Functions

1. Provide analysis and reports related to international logistics activities to facilitate effective logistics management.

 

2. Participate in negotiation with carriers, consolidators, brokers, and related international distribution service vendors to optimize service levels and cost effectiveness.

 

Qualifications and Skills Required

-- BS/BA in Business Administration or related field

-- 3-4 years of retail management experience related to distribution, merchandising, or finance

-- Strong written, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills

-- Demonstrated ability to master and apply technical solutions
