Job Purpose
Dana is searching for a skilled and motivated candidate in the area of Driveline Systems to support the development of mechanical and electrified driveline systems for its Light Vehicle business unit. This work involves developing complete driveline systems, subsystems and components to improve and expand Dana’s product portfolio with a commitment to improving vehicle safety, performance and fuel economy. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and analysis of new and innovative driveline products/systems from concept to production with emphasis on electrified product portfolio; includes responsibility for analysis of the techanical system.
- Manage small team of engineers to lead design of electrified transmissions/driveline systems.
- Drive systematic approach to product development
- Own and lead the creation of system 3D layout and design of Electric/Hybrid vehicle drive systems, focusing primarily on transmission systems and components (Gears, Shafts, Planet Carriers, castings/housings, cooling systems, shifting/parking/disconnect).
- Interface with CAE groups to validate component sizing (making updates where needed to save mass or increase durability) and iteration through oil flow analyses.
- Work with the team to identify packaging challenges and solutions, mass savings opportunities, cost savings
- Lead creation of 2D drawings, incorporating manufacturing and product engineering requirements and ensuring correct GD&T
- Create new or improved engineering best practices to support and provide consistent design and analysis methodology.
- Support generation of all engineering/quality documentation (BOM, DFMEA, DVP&R, BD, PD, IM, etc.); manage internal and external suppliers through part procurement.
- Support onsite prototype builds and physical testing per DVP&R as necessary.
- Support initial sourcing and manufacturing strategies in collaboration with Purchasing and Manufacturing organizations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related discipline; Master’s degree preferred
- 10+ years design/analysis experience in transmission and/or driveline
- 5+ years design/analysis experience in electrification space
- Experience leading small teams
- Intermediate level proficiency with CAD modeling and product release. Siemens NX/Teamcenter preferred
- Experience laying out complicated systems in a highly creative and efficient manner
- Experience with GD&T and complex stack ups
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes for transmission components
- Experience creating quality documentation including DFMEA, BD, PD, IM, DVP&R, etc.
- Highly efficient and motivated self-learner
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of deliverables and lead resolution of issues
- Must be a self-directed and motivated individual who is organized and able to accept multiple tasks and responsibilities
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within and outside Dana in a professional manner.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, planning, problem solving and decision-making skills with ability to successfully function in and lead cross-functional teams
- Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally
