Robert Bosch Fuel Systems, LLC, located in Kentwood, MI, is a precision metal machining manufacturing plant that manufactures and re-manufacturers large engine diesel fuel systems.
Job Description
Lead and support the development and validation of component designs (or design changes) for high pressure fuel pumps and/or fuel injectors, for the Large Engines business unit. Will provide support for the manufacturing and quality department. Interface with internal and external customers to support project tasks.
- Understand the requirements related to component designs or projects
- Develop and perform tests, measurements and data analysis.
- Detailed activities could include but not limited to
- Support development of test methodology and prepare documentation for standardized test activities
- Co-ordinate creation of fixtures and samples
- Propose and support preparation of special instrumentation for test measurements
- Support calibration of test equipment according to Bosch standards
- Conduct tests on test benches according to standardized test procedures.
- Perform teardown analysis, inspect components, interpret results and report on validation tests carried out in test lab.
- Author technical reports
- Develop capabilities in department
- Support the build up / modification of test benches and processes when required
- Collaborate with engineers for all development tasks
- Support design discussions/reviews with lead development, customers, manufacturing and suppliers for proposed designs/changes.
- Support System Development activities including field measurements and data analysis
Travel domestically and internationally as need
- Support customer technical discussions
- Support supplier and manufacturing process development projects
- Support RPP projects with testing expertise
- Utilize Product Engineering Processes such as Design elements, System structuring, DRBFMs, Design reviews, etc. to ensure proper development processes are followed throughout product development.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Automotive Engineering or equivalent four year technical degree.
- Experience with hydraulic systems and basic control systems
- Experience to read technical drawings and interpret basic GD&T and basic tolerance calculations
Preferred Qualifications
- German language skills is a strong plus.
- 1 plus years of automotive related experience in relevant technical field
- Understanding of basic electronic fuel injection and IC engine operation
- PLC programming experience
- Experience with Design for Six SIGMA, FMEA and DRBFM and other relevant engineering and problem solving methods
- Demonstrated technical investigation and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in communication, technical writing, presentations, collaborative and
- team-oriented behavior.
- Use of common office and engineering software tools
