In this role, you will collaborate with a diverse, brilliant, and committed team of colleagues to offer your content expertise on our graduate-level curriculum.

You can expect your responsibilities to include graduate level curriculum development, as well as both receiving and sharing of curriculum feedback. Your efforts will contribute to the development of graduate level teacher preparation courses that will impact aspiring and current educators across the country, including roughly 4,000 teachers and 300,000 students from birth through grade 12! 

This is the perfect opportunity for veteran teachers, school leaders, and other content experts (e.g., professors, experienced teacher trainers and content designers) who are looking to expand their impact on Birth through Grade 3 teachers and classrooms. 

WHAT YOU WILL TACKLE

Design Development (20-25 hours/month)

• Design and revise faculty facing module plans by stated deadlines (A module contains the asynchronous + synchronous strategy and formative assessments for a set of module objectives)
• Attend a design kickoff meeting for the modules you are designing, and periodic feedback sessions as determined by the design manager for your content area
• Develop student-facing materials (i.e., PPT, case study, feedback sheets, etc.) for each module that you design
• Receive and incorporate feedback on module design products to ensure alignment with course goals

The length of this consultant work depends on the number of design cycles within the scope of your contracted work. For a single cycle of design you can expect that you will meet one hour with your design manager, spend 2-3 weeks designing, and then last 1-2 weeks incorporating feedback on your design.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

First and foremost, the Curriculum Design Consultant must share the Relay community’s commitment to working together to improve student growth and achievement through phenomenal teacher preparation grounded in diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. The Curriculum Design Consultant must share the team’s commitment to improving birth-12 student outcomes through Culturally Responsive and Inclusive Teaching practices. Additionally, for this position we’re looking for candidates that possess a combination of the following skills:

• A master’s degree or doctoral degree in the relevant field
• Demonstrated expertise in Early Childhood Special Education (i.e. knowledge of T1, T2, and T3 developmentally appropriate interventions; extensive experience teaching exceptional learners in early childhood settings). Additionally, specific expertise in literacy (assessment, data analysis, instructional planning, goal setting, accommodations, Tier 1 - Tier 3 interventions) is desired.
• Knowledge of current research and best practices in early childhood special education 
• At least two years of experience leading professional development sessions for teachers
• Experience with curriculum design and implementation
• Ability to commit approximately 20-25 hours per month to the role; deadlines and deliverables will be clearly outlined at the beginning of the design cycle
