The Power Transmission Systems division in Rome, NY, is seeking a Designer/Drafter to join our team. In this role, you will report directly to the Supervisor of Drafting and be responsible for designing and drafting new part and unit drawings, as well as revising drawings for power transmission shafts, couplings, and hydraulic pumps used in aircraft. You will also manage and load Bills of Materials into the MRP system, including Teamcenter and SAP. Your work will support Operations and Quality to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality parts to our customers, making a direct impact on the production of critical aerospace components.  

What You Will Do 

  • Create 3D models and draft component and assembly parts using NX, including preparing Bills of Materials for transfer to SAP (ERP system). 

  • Model and draft parts for new product development, creating complete drawing packages for Design Reviews. 

  • Implement drawing changes from change request documents, ensuring full understanding of the requirements. 

  • Review and check your own work for accuracy and completeness against mark-ups, change requests, reference drawings, and drafting standards prior to submission. 

  • Design and draft proposal drawings for new designs on short timelines to support quoting efforts. 

  • Perform tolerance stack-ups for components and assemblies. 

  • Support Materials of Concern calculations for REACh certification. 

  • Follow and contribute to updates of design standard work. 

  • Utilize the EPEC Teamcenter PLM system on a daily basis. 

  • Prepare and export 3D models for analysis or to share with customers and suppliers. 

  • Attend product and project support meetings. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, other departments, and RTX sites. 

  • Maintain accurate time logs for work performed on funded projects. 

  • Communicate weekly updates on active program statuses to the broader engineering team. 

Qualifications You Must Have  

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience 

Qualifications We Prefer  

  • Experience with GD&T, standard drafting practices, and Bills of Materials. 

  • Familiarity with Configuration Control practices. 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks effectively. 

  • Experience with Teamcenter 14 and NX 2312/2412. 

  • Understanding of MIL-STD requirements. 

  • Knowledge of and adherence to Export Classification regulations.
