Basic Purpose and Objective of the Position Protective is searching for an Analyst II to join the Financial Reporting team that can work hybrid with our team based in our Birmingham, AL corporate headquarters. This position is primarily responsible for recording, analyzing, and reporting earnings for the Stable Value and Corporate & Other segments as well as reporting quarterly results to the parent company (Dai-ichi).

Basic Purpose and Objective of the Position Protective is searching for an Analyst II to join the Financial Reporting team that can work hybrid with our team based in our Birmingham, AL corporate headquarters. This position is primarily responsible for recording, analyzing, and reporting earnings for the Stable Value and Corporate & Other segments as well as reporting quarterly results to the parent company (Dai-ichi).
Responsibilities
- Accounting for, analyzing, and reporting financial information for the Stable Value segment for both GAAP and Statutory accounting bases including analyzing segment’s results vs historical trends and budgets, supporting investor relations and legal department for contract issuances, maintaining responsibility for monthly and quarterly close process, preparing journal entries for contract payments, initiating payout wire requests, performing accounting related to new contract issuances, and producing reporting packages for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Analyzing and reporting financial information for the Corporate & Other segment for GAAP
- Coordinating the parent company (Dai-ichi) reporting process as well as reviewing and reporting of information obtained from segment and functional areas;
- Critically analyzing, investigating, and formulating responses to questions and requests from the Dai-ichi accounting team;
- Working with both internal and external auditors to support testing over controls and balances the role is responsible for executing and maintaining;
- Working independently to find efficiencies and process improvements for responsibilities;
- Assisting with various other projects, analysis, and ad hoc requests including implementing company-wide initiatives
Qualifications/Education/Skills
- 2 – 5 years of financial reporting or related experience
- BS degree in Accounting
- CPA designation strongly preferred
- Public Accounting experience a plus
- Insurance industry experience a plus
- Ability to consistently meet reporting deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to think critically related to technical accounting issues
- Ability to effectively work with different functional areas (ALM, Investment Accounting, Tax, etc.)
- Continuous-improvement mindset
