We’re looking for a Manager - Payroll and HRIS to join our growing company and play a key role in our customer experience by ensuring each purchase ends in a smile!
The Manager - Payroll & HRIS is responsible overseeing the compensation management system, the control and auditing of all payroll processes and assist in managing the HRIS functions. As a key member of the HR management team, this position will assist in the HRIS operational and strategic planning support and provide payroll, as well as support our transition to a new HRIS.
Job Description
In this role you will:
- Oversee and audit the information that interfaces from the HR system for accuracy
- Data entry including: hours, adjustments, manual updates and other details relating to Associate’s compensation
- Balance payroll to time sheets. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
- Head the completion of the year end payroll audit. Maintain all payroll filings
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of payroll data including employer and Associate payroll taxes and other deductions.
- Ensure the commencement of all taxable benefits is completed accurately and in a timely manner and that all parties involved are advised of dates and/or other information that may be required.
- Resolve Associate questions and problems regarding payroll questions by researching policies and procedures, and by providing answers and resolutions to any problems or concerns that arise by responding within a timely manner.
- Assist Director, Total Rewards in the HRIS operational and strategic planning, including fostering innovation, planning projects and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.
- Lead the organization wide transition to new, cloud based HRIS software for payroll and core HR.
- Manage staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation and disciplinary actions. Maintain internal database files and tables, and develops custom reports to meet the requirements of company management and staff.
- Identify training needs of end users and develop and provide the necessary training to meet those needs.
- Lead the team in managing the day-to-day activities to support the broader HR team, Accounting, and other inter-related functions. Provide overall prioritization of work assignments and management of functional team resources, and their activities.
- Participate in the annual merit increase process by assisting Director, Total Rewards with data, analysis, and ensuring the accuracy of key data inputs.
- Keep apprised of federal and provincial laws and regulations impacting Associate compensation.
Qualifications
The Qualifications and Experience we like to see:
- This position requires completion of bachelor’s degree and/or college diploma, in Accounting/Finance or related field
- 5 to 8 years direct experience in the field of Payroll, HRIS and Total Rewards
- Must have knowledge of employment standards and completed PLP Certification of CPI (Canadian Payroll Institute) Program or have equivalent payroll experience
- Has experience working in a cloud based HRIS environment
- Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with HRIS implementations
- The role requires attention to detail and high degree of accuracy, maintaining the highest level of confidential customer service to all associates
- Experience with payroll processing systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership and team management skills
