About the role

At the Kroc Center, you can tailor your schedule by choosing morning or weekend lifeguard shifts. Morning pool hours are Monday-Friday 5:30am – 1:00pm with the greatest need being between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm.  Saturday the aquatics center is open from 6:30 am- 5:30 pm.   

 

This position pays $15.84/hour with the opportunity to earn an extra $1.00 per hour by adding a Swim Instructor position to your role. A shift differential of $1.00 per hour is paid for all shifts worked from 4:00 pm Friday through Sunday. 

 

As a Morning Lifeguard, you will keep a watchful eye during group fitness classes, splash play and swim lessons taking place. 

 

A Weekend Lifeguard oversees the lively open swim windows filled with family activities and exciting features like our splash play area with water tipping bucket and other water features including the always in demand indoor/outdoor water slide. 

 

No matter the shift, our lifeguards play a vital role in creating a safe and enjoyable aquatic environment. You’ll monitor pool activities, assist patrons, enforce safety regulations, and support the State of Wisconsin–approved aquatic staffing plan. Light facility upkeep and cleaning tasks are also part of the role.

In keeping with the mission of the Wisconsin & Upper MI Division of The Salvation Army, The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center located in Green Bay, WI provides facilities, programs and services that strengthen, encourage, and enrich children, adults, and seniors through positive life-changing experiences.

 

SUMMARY/PRIMARY PURPOSE:

 

The Lifeguard will assist with the implementation of programs, special events, and swim lessons. The Lifeguard will also monitor activities, observe and provide assistance to swimmers, prevent accidents, protect life and enforce regulations. The Lifeguard will also ensure they are positioned in accordance with the State of Wisconsin approved aquatic staffing plan. Position is also required to assist with general facility maintenance and perform other maintenance and cleaning duties as assigned.

  • Considerately and patiently enforce Kroc rules to provide a safe environment for all members, visitors and employees. Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe areas and actions. Maintain order in swimming areas.
  • Must be able to analyze situations and adopt a quick and effective course of action; maintain constant observation of an assigned area to identify any signs of danger
  • Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning and provide first aid and CPR when needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of swimming pool areas.
  • Provide great customer service to the community; see that all customers, clients and members are given prompt and courteous service.
  • Ensure that all equipment assigned to the aquatic facilities is maintained and properly inventoried on a regular basis, and report defects, necessary repairs, etc. to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform set up and breakdown of facility equipment as needed.
  • Implement water chemical tests as determined by the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain records regarding programs and operations as needed.
  • Participate in designated staff training and professional development courses, including regular in-service training sessions.
  • Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Aquatics Staff Manual.
