SUMMARY
Welsbach Electric Corp. of L.I. is seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor with a minimum of 3-5 years accounting, payroll, and supervisory experience, preferably in a union construction environment. This position will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting activities and month-end close processes.
Compensation Range: $95,000/year - $110,000/year, Full Time, Exempt, Onsite
Other Compensation: This position is bonus eligible
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department.
- Perform financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, treasury, tax, payroll, and budgeting duties.
- Plan, direct, coordinate and evaluate the activities and performance of 3-4 direct reports, including accounting, human resources, and dispatch personnel.
- Assist with financial planning, budgeting, procurement, or investment activities.
- Prepare and review journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Review and process internal paperwork relating to new projects, change orders, and cost estimates.
- Work with project managers to close out project accounts upon project completion.
- Assist with managing cash flow by coordinating timely collections with appropriate project managers and customers.
- Maintain all assets and leases in the company’s systems/applications.
- Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of all tax returns/filings on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Calculate and maintain hourly cost breakdowns and billing labor rates.
- Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
- Support President/C.E.O. in the finance and accounting activities of the Company, including timely issuance of monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP, maintenance of regular cost reports, periodic budgets and forecasts, accurate processing of accounting transactions, and such other duties and responsibilities as come within the purview of this position.
- Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the President/C.E.O. with recommendation for resolution.
- Perform additional assignments as required by the company or as directed by management.

- Payroll
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of weekly union and non-union payrolls. This position is directly responsible for processing union payroll.
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including new hires, terminations, salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. Including accurate and timely completion of internal and external payroll reporting requirements.
- Review and prepare Union Benefit Reports, Certified Payroll Reports, OCIP/Insurance Reports, Construction Employment Reports and M/WBE Reports as required.
- Reporting
- Assist with financial reporting including preparation, dissemination, and review of project work in progress reports.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly accounting close and preparation of financial statements and reports ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Compile, maintain and produce cash management and forecast reports using internal cash management applications for distribution to management.
- Analysis of job cost and profit/loss of ongoing projects and assist with preparation of monthly Work in Progress (WIP) reports.
- Insurance reporting and maintenance.
