In this role, you will

• Drive development of physics-based and algorithmic simulations of lidar behavior and performance across the full operational domain of the Aurora driver.
• Verify and validate algorithm behavior and performance 
• Work with a broad team of optical physicists, electrical engineers and robotic perception experts to solve multi-disciplinary challenges 
• Drive the development of advanced signal processing algorithms

Required Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related degree
• Deep experience in simulation and characterization of optical and/or optoelectronic systems
• Background in radar, lidar, or telecommunications

Desirable Qualifications 

• M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related degree
• Software test/QA and/or HIL test experience
• Deep experience with algorithm development, implementation on FPGAs, and validation
• Strong DSP fundamentals (filter design, fixed precision optimization, fourier) analysis
• Control systems
• Experienced with MATLAB, VivadoHLS, Vivado (or similar), ModelSim, DSP Builder (or similar), FPGA build scripting (bash, tcl, perl etc), version control (Git, Mercurial, SVN)

The base salary range for this position is $163,000 - $261,000. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
