Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

The Assistant Director assists with developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive public relations strategy, including media outlets, social media, website management, photography, video collection, and live streaming to provide exposure to Florida Tech's varsity athletic teams. The Assistant Director demonstrates establishing positive, mutually respectful, and effective working relationships with scholar-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty, alumni, the public, and internal and external local, regional, and national media representatives. Assisting with all gameday athletic communications operations, setup, and teardown for all home varsity athletic events, including assisting with hiring, training, scheduling, and management of part-time and student personnel to ensure Florida Tech athletics provides a positive experience for all participants and spectators in person and across all web and social media platforms. This role supports the University’s mission to educate global thinkers, resilient problem solvers, and future leaders, ready to support industry and societal needs by responsibly integrating science, technology, and other key disciplines to advance knowledge across the universe and Florida Tech Athletics’ mission of developing athletes into scholars, champions, and leaders prepared to become global influencers in their relentless pursuit of greatness.

• Assist with the operations of the athletic communications department (social media content, feature writing, and managing/updating FloridaTechSports.com), and managing all academic, competition, and community engagement content, and all event management tasks for sports covered in adhering to all athletic and University policies and protocols, use of all athletic and university software and technology systems, documentation, travel arrangements, equipment/supplies, maintenance, orders, and community service.

• Create and implement the public relations plan for each assigned sport, production of athletic department printed and digital assets, and collaboration with the Director and Assistant Director for Athletic Partnerships & Promotions in developing event scripts, public address announcements, etc.

• Assist with developing and coordinating photography (headshots, team and action, headshots, and community engagement) and live event video streaming and video content production (including the end-of-year athletic awards event).

• Assist with the coordination and compilation of all record books and other historical data for sports covered, including the oversight of maintaining accurate inputting of statistics utilizing approved NCAA software, distribution of official stats to coaches, opponents, Sunshine State Conference, NCAA, and other required services (including the nomination of scholar-athletes, coaches, and teams for weekly, pre/postseason academic, and athletic awards).

• Other duties assigned by the Associate AD for External Operations.

The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) requires colleges and universities, both public and private, participating in federal student aid programs to disclose campus safety information and impose certain basic requirements for handling incidents of sexual violence and emergency situations.
