Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Flight Simulation Labs Software Senior Manager to join the Air Dominance Software leadership team located in Berkeley, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

The Flight Simulation team is seeking an Senior Level manager to lead the software development efforts for approximately 150 software engineers across 11 first line managers.  This position will report to the Air Dominance Software Senior Director and be responsible for software execution across Flight Simulation Labs.  In addition, the manager will be responsible for driving software and tool strategies across the team and driving collaboration and commonality among the software engineers and the rest of the Flight Simulation Labs organization. A successful candidate will collaborate with the Software Enterprise to embrace software best practices, standards, and initiatives which position the flight simulation team for efficient, effective, and high-quality execution. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategies for Flight Simulation Labs (FSL) software tools and processes including software development kits, Agile processes, and tools, and DevSecOps initiatives

  • Manage Common use software for Flight Simulation Labs - Toolkits, Comm, Visuals, Interface I/O, etc.

  • Interface with the Flight Simulation Labs senior manager, Flight Simulation Labs HW Design Teams, Flight Simulation Labs Operations, Flight Simulation Labs Integration team and other stakeholders to drive execution as well as strategic enterprise software initiatives across the team

  • Coordinate with IT and Security on computing and network requirements supportive of FSL SW and Test environments

  • Lead staffing and process improvement efforts for Flight Simulation Labs software personnel

  • Lead and develop Flight Simulation software personnel

  • Be responsible for software execution across Flight Simulation Labs and programs

  • Manages, develops, and motivates employees and mid-level managers

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Required Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 5 years’ experience with Real-Time Software Development

  • Must be able to collaborate across multiple customers and stakeholders simultaneously

  • Understanding of SAFe Agile principles

  • Previous software leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Active Top-Secret clearance preferred

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • Previous experience in Simulation and/or Lab environment software development

  • Ability to understand complex technical concepts and communicate at both detailed tactical and high-level strategic ways
