Senior Savoury Food Technologist / Flavour portfolio expert - Your future position?
Purpose
You will support customer projects, and research process by preparing and selecting flavours, offering guidelines related to flavour modifications and maintaining data relevant to flavour portfolio, according to EH&S policies and business needs.
You will be based in Malmö, Sweden, and report to the Technical Manager Northern Europe.
Primary Responsibilities
New product development
- Develop flavoured food products for savoury customer projects, presentations and research projects
- Select optimal flavours for projects according to specified requirements (i.e., customer, regulatory, legislation, and cost)
- Lead sensory evaluations of flavours in food applications for briefs, research projects and portfolio evaluations
- Create exciting tasting sessions and presentations to customers/visitors
- Co-creation with customers
- Be a technical expert and advisor to marketing, sales and customers
Flavour Portfolio Management
- Manage flavour data, own and build the Northern Europe flavour collection
- Maintain the flavour performance data for the flavour portfolio through evaluation in finished product and capture of profiles
Academic Background
- Diploma/Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Food Science/Technology or Chemistry
Professional Experience
- 5 to 7 years of experience in a food applications lab, production, or related area
- Experience in product development Savory (sauces, soups, dressings, processed meat, plant-based products, cheese, ready meals)
- Knowledge of the Nordic savoury taste
- Experience as a chef or with snacks applications is a plus
- Experience in product/industry commercialization is a plus
Language skills
- English fluency in speaking and writing
- Nordic language is a plus
Technical Skills
- Understanding of most food ingredients when used in savoury application
- Knowledge of most savoury recipes and production processes
- Tasting skills and ability to describe the flavour profile of the product and provide direction to flavourists for flavour modifications
- Experience with the most common flavour reactions/interactions in common food products
- Presentation skills, both interpersonal and to presenting concepts to clients in a culinary way
- Experience managing projects independently and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
