ABOUT THE TEAM
We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and driving adoption of our most critical systems to ensure Anduril is successful for the near and long term. With expertise spanning HPC environments, DOD/IC accreditation processes, and enterprise architecture, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams spanning engineering, supply chain, operations, manufacturing, accounting, finance, people, and more to understand the business needs, engineer solutions, and ensure our systems are aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
ABOUT THE JOB
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Design, develop, and implement solutions that meet the business requirements of the company and satisfy DOD/IC security and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with business partners to understand business requirements and translate them into functional and technical solutions that align with DOD and IC mission needs.
- Architect and optimize HPC environments, including workload management systems, high-performance interconnects, and parallel file systems to support mission-critical applications.
- Implement and manage VMware Horizon VDI solutions for secure access to classified systems across different security domains.
- Size, design, and build large-scale computing infrastructures that balance performance, security, and cost considerations for defense applications.
- Lead infrastructure projects through DOD/IC accreditation processes, ensuring compliance with relevant security frameworks and controls.
- Analyze current systems and processes to identify areas for improvement and make enhancements while maintaining compliance with relevant security frameworks.
- Work with vendors and third-party service providers to integrate systems and solutions into the company's infrastructure, ensuring compliance with DOD/IC security requirements.
- Guide internal teams in building secure-by-design custom solutions when build-vs-buy decisions favor internal development.
- Provide expertise on system and process best practices, including training and documentation for stakeholders across the organization.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 12+ years of experience in designing, developing, and implementing enterprise systems and solutions at manufacturing companies (Aerospace & Defense industry preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of enterprise architecture principles and frameworks, including DOD Architecture Framework (DoDAF).
- Extensive experience with HPC environments, including Slurm or similar workload managers, high-performance interconnects (InfiniBand, OmniPath, RoCE), and parallel file systems (Lustre, BeeGFS, GPFS).
- Demonstrated expertise in sizing and architecting enterprise-scale systems with 1000+ compute nodes, including capacity planning, performance benchmarking, and TCO optimization.
- Proven experience implementing VMware Horizon VDI solutions in secure environments, including GPU passthrough configuration and integration with government authentication systems.
- Extensive experience in hyperconverged infrastructure, specifically vSAN-based architectures supporting advanced defense applications.
- Strong background in high-performance networking, including experience with 25/100/200 Gigabit networking standards, topology design, and congestion management for HPC workloads.
- Experience with security accreditation processes including RMF (Risk Management Framework), NIST 800-53 controls, and DISA STIGs.
- Proven track record of leading complex system-centric projects from conception to completion in DOD/IC environments.
- Demonstrated experience with automation frameworks and infrastructure-as-code practices in accordance with secure configuration management principles.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Currently possesses and is able to maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
