The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.
Your Responsibilities
As a Part-Time Student - Continuous Improvement for JD Power Systems located in Waterloo, Iowa, you will:
- Analyze warranty claims and work with the Customer Support organization to examine failed parts
- Use defined processes and tools to conduct root-cause analysis
- Coordinate with Product Verification and Validation factories and suppliers to validate and implement the solution
- Maintain and develop new tools and process for efficiency improvements
- Assist the team in identifying issues and proposing resolutions
- Support the team in defining and documenting assembly and test procedures
This position is NOT available to students on immigration visas.
What Skills You Need
- Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science or Data Analytics; others may apply
- Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited university
- Graduation date of December 2026 or later
- Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
- Available to work during the academic year 16-20 hours/weekly between the business hours of 7 AM to 5 PM
- Available to work during the summer semester 35-40 hours/weekly between the business hours of 7 AM to 5 PM
- Must be able to commute to the work location in Waterloo, Iowa, on a weekly basis year-round (NOTE: Relocation assistance is not provided.)
- Experience with MS Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook) or equivalent
- Ability to work within a diverse workforce
- Initiative to complete tasks and a process-oriented mindset
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects to meet project schedules

- Understanding of engines and engine components
- Experience with Visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, DataStudio, etc.
