About the role

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing and packaging processes in the distribution center.
  • Plans utilization of facilities, equipment, materials, and personnel to improve efficiency of operations.
  • Studies and records time, motion, methods, and speed involve in performance of production, maintenance, and other worker operations, to establish standard production rate and to improve efficiency.
  • Designs, tests, and implements packaging and labeling solutions, as well as review and improve existing packaging designs.
  • Creates and release items in GIM, creates and maintain BOMs and routes.
  • Implement and executes Norma Production System requirements.

 

Primary Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned:

  • Develops and writes all instruction manuals and support documentation for equipment and processes.
  • Confers with establishment personnel to implement operation procedures and resolve system malfunctions.
  • Develops and conducts equipment-training programs and demonstrates skills to trainees.
  • Prepares charts, graphs, and diagrams to illustrate workflow, routing, floor layouts, material handling, and machine utilization.
  • Observes workers operating equipment or performing tasks to determine time involved and fatigue rate, using stopwatch, motion-picture camera, and similar equipment.
  • Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements and relates costs to provide information for management decisions in coordination with production supervisor.
  • Creates and release items in GIM, creates and maintain Bill of Materials and Routings for all produced and repackaged products.
  • Coordinates the development of equipment specification requirements, cost analysis, and proposals for integrating machinery and equipment.
  • Test ability of machines to perform tasks required.
  • Oversee and manage complete packaging and labeling development process, including the creation of packaging and labeling designs, prototype development, and performance testing.
  • Ensure packaging and labeling complies with all standards, regulations and customer requirements
  • Troubleshoot new and existing packaging and labeling problems involving designs, materials and processes and provide creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Work closely with global suppliers, engineering, product management, operations, and sourcing.
  • Participate in product introduction teams, to deliver new products to market.
  • Identify and implement cost saving initiatives related to packaging materials, labor, efficiency, transportation, and storage.
  • Work closely with Engineering to optimize packaging supply base for cost, lead time, quality, regionalization, standardization, supply assurance, and compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.
  • Specify and recommend efficiency tools and test methods to develop and validate packaging designs
  • Identify opportunities and lead implementation of all Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of BOS Business Operating System Standard (ERP: AX 2009/2012)
  • Knowledge of EMS (Environmental Management System) Standard
  • Follows established company safety procedures

JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:            (R) =Required (P) = Preferred  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering (R)
  • 1 to 3 years related experience in a manufacturing plant or a distribution center (R)
  • Quotation of new and existing business (R)
  • Experience with ISO/TS quality systems. (P)
  • Experience in Cost of Quality (COQ) and Statistical Process Control (P)
  • Knowledge of and utilization in standard mechanical gauging instruments. (P)
  • Ability to manage multi-disciplined team environment using key metrics and problem-solving tools. (Required)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee is required to:

  • Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor
  • Exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or
  • Exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
