Anticipated Work Year & Hours*:     260 Days  (12-Month)

Union Membership:     Proviso Custodial and Maintenance Union SEIU Local 73, CTW

Reports to:     Custodial and Maintenance Building Lead; Director of Buildings and Grounds

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plumbing & Water Systems: Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems including pipes, faucets, condensate lines, gas piping, ice machines, and kitchen equipment. Perform rodding and clearing of sewers as needed.

  • Water Coolers & Hot Water Systems: Evaluate, repair, and program hot water systems; maintain water coolers and condensate systems.

  • HVAC & Condensate Systems: Inspect, maintain, and program HVAC systems, including monitoring hot water circulation and condensate operations.

  • Kitchen Equipment: Maintain and repair kitchen appliances, gas lines, and associated systems to ensure proper operation.

  • Field & Stadium Maintenance: Line and maintain athletic fields; winterize the stadium and related outdoor equipment; manage snow removal and ice control for safe facility use.

  • Seasonal & Preventative Maintenance: Plan and perform preventative maintenance on plumbing, gas, kitchen, and field systems; winterize equipment and facilities to prevent damage.

  • Inventory & Equipment Management: Track maintenance supplies, parts, and equipment; coordinate ordering and storage.

  • Emergency Response: Respond to urgent maintenance issues, including plumbing failures, HVAC problems, or field emergencies.

  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety codes, building regulations, and manufacturer guidelines for all equipment.

  • Enter orders via district system for building repairs and closeout when complete 

  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the administration.*   

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; plumbing, HVAC, or facilities certification preferred.

  • Proven experience in plumbing, HVAC, kitchen equipment, or facilities maintenance.

  • Ability to evaluate, program, and repair water, gas, and condensate systems.

  • Experience with winterizing equipment, snow removal, and field/stadium maintenance.

  • Knowledge of safety standards and ability to work in confined or outdoor spaces.

  • Strong organizational, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Physical ability to lift, bend, and perform hands-on maintenance tasks.

  • Basic computer skills for work orders, equipment programming, and inventory tracking.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Combination of indoor and outdoor work in various facility areas, including kitchens, locker rooms, fields, and utility rooms.

  • Exposure to varying temperatures, weather conditions, and water or chemicals.

  • Occasional on-call or emergency work may be required.
