Head of Communication and Patient Engagement

 

Position Summary - Build communication and patient engagement strategy for the oncology portfolio. Lead a team responsible engaging with patient groups to bring critical insights, creating partnership and executive engagement strategy & tactics. Develop portfolio & product communication plans, generate content in line with strategic goals, coordinate dissemination across various media / channels. Strategic and visionary leader with a strong background in patient engagement, public relations, and strategic communications, capable of building and leading a team to drive successful launches and ongoing engagement efforts in the US market.

What you have to offer. 

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans for patient engagement and product communication initiatives, aligning with the company’s overall business objectives and brand positioning

  • Proven track record successfully leading patient engagement and public relations efforts for multiple product launches in the pharmaceutical industry, including coordinating launch activities and managing stakeholder communications

  • Strong expertise in building and leading high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and excellence in patient engagement and communication efforts

  • Deep understanding of patient needs, preferences, and behaviors in the healthcare landscape, with a commitment to developing initiatives that prioritize patient empowerment, education, and support

  • Extensive experience in developing product communication strategies and campaigns to raise awareness, shape perception, and enhance the reputation of the company and its products within the US market.

  • Strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and influencers in the healthcare industry

  • Experience in building relationships with patient advocacy organizations, patient communities, key medical experts to drive advocacy initiatives and foster meaningful engagement

  • Familiarity with digital engagement strategies and social media platforms to effectively reach and engage patients, caregivers and other stakeholders, leveraging digital tools to amplify messaging and facilitate two-way communication

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Marketing, Business, Communications, or Journalism) with at least 10 plus years of internal, executive, and/or external communications, or related experience.

  • Oncology experience preferred  

  • Thorough understanding of legal and regulatory requirements governing patient engagement and public relations in the healthcare sector, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines

  • Proficiency in leveraging data and analytics to inform decision making, measure the impact of patient engagement and public relations initiatives

  • Outstanding judgement, intuition, self-starter, demonstrating initiative and a quick learner.

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to anticipate company and team needs.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to navigate dynamic and evolving biotech landscape, with the ability to lead and manage change effectively as the company grows and launches multiple assets

  •  Ability to manage projects and changing priorities, multitask, and meet aggressive deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • PreferredQualifications: MBA
