What are Trust Fund Positions?
Trust Fund positions are unique to the Smithsonian. They are paid for from a variety of sources, including the Smithsonian endowment, revenue from our business activities, donations, grants and contracts. Trust employees are not part of the civil service, nor does trust fund employment lead to Federal status. The salary ranges for trust positions are generally the same as for federal positions and in many cases trust and federal employees work side by side. The office engages with staff throughout the Smithsonian in accomplishing their goals. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Smithsonian Institution’s Office of Advancement seeks an experienced candidate to fill the role of the Assistant Director of Online Engagement and Fundraising. This position is responsible for planning, managing, executing, and increasing the Institution’s digital philanthropy efforts. This work encompasses formulating digital philanthropy and outreach strategies that represent the needs and interests of the entire Institution, integration of membership programs, the Institution’s email engagements, and support of new and emerging strategies and special projects. The successful candidate will have experience with omni-channel program integration and cross-collaboration with internal and external partners. The Assistant Director manages an office that creates a high volume of content and provides services to execute and manage online engagement and fundraising initiatives. The incumbent is responsible for meeting an annual fundraising goal. The Assistant Director supervises a team of three staff members and multiple contractors.
