Job Title: School of Family Life Adjunct Teaching - SFL 354: Cross-Cultural Family and Human Development

Position Start Date: 18 August 2025 (classes begin in September)

Required Degree: A Masters or PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy, Marriage Family Human Development, Family Studies, or related field is required.

The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience: 

  • Teaching experience at the university level in Marriage and Family Therapy, Human Development, Family Studies, or related field is preferred.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have previously taught the course or similar with good student ratings.

Duties/Expectations: 

  • Successful applicants will teach a 3-credit semester class on Cross-Cultural Family and Human Development to about 30 undergraduate students in the School of Family Life.
  • This course teaches how to critically evaluate the importance of considering contextual factor for human development and relationships around the globe.
  • Students will develop awareness of one's own cultural and gender-based values and beliefs and recognize and explicate biases inherent in the perspective of the dominant U.S. culture.
  • As a result, students will be better positioned as a citizen of the world, in terms of valuing diversity and being able to analyze world cultures for how they might benefit or cost individual and family development.

This course will have two sections in Fall 2025. Applicants may be assign to teach one section or both sections, depending on interest and availability.

  • Section 1: 9:30-10:45am MW

  • Section 2: 2:00-3:15pm MW
