Work Alternatives Coordinator/Case Manager
JOB TITLE: Work Alternatives Program Coordinator/Case Manager
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
DEPARTMENT: Youth Alternatives
SUPERVISOR: Youth Alternatives Director or Assistant Director
SALARY: $43,724 to $52,468 Annually
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible for providing community service supervision of youth placed in the program through both the Municipal and Circuit Court. Provide resource referrals for participating at-risk youth and their families. Provide supervision of youth placed on probation or diversion through the Municipal or Circuit court. Provide supervision of program staff.
Collect and track program statistical data.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for ongoing program development under direction of the Assistant Director.
- Provide supervision and mentoring of youth placed in the Work Alternatives Program through the Municipal and Circuit Court as well as referrals from the Department of Family Services.
- Assign and track the progress of each case assigned to the various work sites.
- Oversee and develop new and existing work sites.
- Maintain and complete necessary paperwork associated with each case.
- Provide written reports to the referring Court or agency regarding the status of each case.
- Track and provide statistical data regarding the program.
- Provide supervision and/or case management of cases assigned by the Municipal or Circuit Court.
- Conduct random drug testing as required.
- Provide supervision of program staff.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide on-call services on a rotational basis with the other staff.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with school administrators, teaching staff, and referring agencies to ensure the success of the program.
- Represent the program at appropriate meetings and community events, as requested.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Candidate must have strong communication skills and possess the ability to work closely with teens and their families.
- Candidates must have knowledge about the juvenile justice system and effective de-escalation and relationship building skills.
- Candidates must have excellent organizational and critical thinking skills.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Social Services, Juvenile Justice, Education or Related Field
- Candidates must be able to pass and complete a criminal background check which includes fingerprinting and child abuse registry.
